The Rules of Being Human!

Greetings Everyone! Have you ever thought about rules for being human? ... Why, How, When, Who, What and Where.... questions about why we do what we do on our spiritual journey? I am sure we have all thought at one time or another about what makes our body tick.... The fact of the matter is God created each of us as creative individuals and it is the Spirit that brings us to life. I would like to share the following list of rules of being human compiled by West Hartford Counseling Center. Open your mind and heart and enjoy!

The Rules of Being Human

You will receive a body. You may like it or hate it, but it will be yours for as long as you live. How you take care of it or fail to take care of it can make an enormous difference in the quality of your life.

You will learn lessons. You are enrolled in a full-time, informal school called Life. Each day, you will be presented with opportunities to learn what you need to know. The lessons presented are often completely different from those you think you need.

There are no mistakes, only lessons. Growth is a process of trial, error and experimentation. You can learn as much from failure as you can from success. Maybe more.

A lesson is repeated until it is learned. A lesson will be presented to you in various forms until you have learned it. When you have learned it (as evidenced by a change in your attitude and ultimately your behavior) then you can go on to the next lesson.

Learning lessons does not end. There is no stage of life that does not contain some lessons. As long as you live there will be something more to learn.

“There” is no better than “here”. When your “there” has become a “here” you will simply discover another “there” that will again look better than your “here.” Don’t be fooled by believing that the unattainable is better than what you have.

Others are merely mirrors of you. You cannot love or hate something about another person unless it reflects something you love or hate about yourself. When tempted to criticize others, ask yourself why you feel so strongly.

What you make of your life is up to you. You have all the tools and resources you need. What you create with those tools and resources is up to you. Remember that through desire, goal setting and unflagging effort you can have anything you want. Persistence is the key to success.

The answers lie inside of you. The solutions to all of life’s problems lie within your grasp. All you need to do is ask, look, listen and trust yourself.

Holiday Madness! =0 - "TAKE A BREAK!"

Holiday Madness! As we enter the hussel and bussel of this upcoming holiday season remember to pace yourself! It is important to take time for you! We have all experienced the insanity that the pressures of the holiday season can put upon us.... The Gatherings! The Office Parties! The shopping lists (that never seem to end)! The annoying crowds! Lines at the malls or local shopping centers that go on an on!.... I think you get the picture! Ha! Make sure you allow your self to step back from all of the excitement of the season and take little moments alone... These little moments should be periods of time to just relax and reflect on the positive in your life.... Make these time frames special for you... It may be just taking time alone to enjoy a nice mug of hot chocolate or a cup of holiday tea.... Whatever it may be ... Just do it for you! Know that You deserve it and your Spirit will be refreshed! Take a break from the Holiday Madness! =)

Hello Everyone! The following is an article that I came across of the subject of Simple Meditation.... by Becky Jonson .. Take time to meditate to relieve your everyday stress and streghthen your Spirit! Enjoy and Peace to you all! Dave =)

Relieve Stressful Everyday Living with Simple Meditation
Sick of Stressful Living? Simple Meditation is the Answer
Becky Jonson, Yahoo! Contributor Network

" Meditation Real Simple Stressful Day Meditation Techniques .Stress is an everyday problem in society today. With more and more people suffering from it any way to reduce this stress must be a positive thing. This can be achieved through the art of meditation.
Your probably imagining a group of people sat around "hummmm"ing but it should be a very personal, relaxing enjoyable time. With just a few minutes practise every day you can achieve better peace of mind and reduced stress.

Meditation requires that for the time you are doing it, you are completely concentrating on yourself. You cannot do it whilst your making yourself a sandwich or as the kids are getting ready for school, however, if you can make the time starting at just 5 minutes per day and gradually building up to an hour over time you will be amazed at how much relaxed and calm you are.

The actual practise of Meditation most people find very difficult. We live in a society where we are constantly "on the go" and it is almost frowned upon to be sat not doing anything for an hour. Because of this our minds are jumping from one issue to the next attempting to constantly solve all our problems. In meditation you will notice that you have so much time to think your thoughts may become repetitive. Just clear your thoughts and concentrate on what you are doing.

Begin your meditation by concentrating on breathing deeply. As you breathe in through your nose notice how it feels as it draws down into your lungs and back out again. Focusing on your breathing like this should instantly make you feel more relaxed.

If you are having trouble focusing and your mind is continuing to jump from one thought to the next you may want to try this as well. Light a large candle in front of yourself and with the lights dimmed or off stare into the flame as you slowly breathe. This gives you something to look at and concentrate on.

Alternatively if you are young and without adult assistance or you would rather try something different you can choose to repeat a mantra. This is simply any word repeated silently to yourself as you meditate. Visualize the word in your mind.

Remember that all of these techniques you are not going to be able to instantly master over night. Most people find the real difficulty comes from having to shut off their mind from the outside world and finding the
time to do it. Don't become frustrated with yourself if you notice this just employ the techniques listed and keep practising. Gradually build up your sessions over time and you will soon start to see the benefits and how a few minutes less stressed can make your entire day more enjoyable. "

"Deal With Your Baggage".... Last spring I had the privilege of attending an Emotional Wellness Class instructed by a close friend of mine. The time spend together in the session brought back many memories of good times and not so good times in my personal life... In our quest for self improvement we can sometimes find our spirit disconnected to the world around us. God places people in our life for a reason. It is up to us to choose how we welcome those people to join us on our spiritual journey. People will come and go.... We may visit places far and beyond we could ever imagine, but a true friend remains with us for a lifetime.... I know that on my spiritual journey I want to take with me the important things I will need..... that includes the cherished people around me.... The rest of the baggage that life throws our way can be dealt with... It is up to you how much you want to carry! As for me...the less... the better... "Where can I check my bags?!" =)

Are you the kind of person that finds it hard to relax? Are you a just sit back and kick your feet up kind of person? AHHHHHHH! Its nice to relax and just forget everything...Mmmmmmm. Well, not everyone can simply do this... sometimes it is difficult for certain people to let loose and let go.. It is important that we learn to stop and let yourself fall apart... No.. not a nervous breakdown.. but a regrouping period... Take time to meditate by focusing on what makes you happy... Find a quite time and place.... sit back and remember the 3 R's ... RELAX! REJUVENATE AND RECONNECT!... Allow your Spirit to reach out of your body and connect to the world around you... Be at peace and center yourself and know that God is your light source.... Don't focus on the negative things in your life (negativity brings negativity) ... instead focus on the positive! Take a deep breath and know that you are doing well and your spirit will reward you! Remember... You are in control of your life... so take a break and Relax! Rejuvenate and Reconnect! Its all good! =)

Meditation Relaxes the Spirit and Mind

Hello to Everyone! I find myself at times needing to relax my Spirit and Mind.... It is important on our Spiritual journey to allow ourselves to regroup and heal our body, mind and spirit. God gives us the tools to do this.... we must take control and care for ourselves so we are healthy for the journey that is in store for us.... The following is an article about Meditation and how it relaxes the Spirit and the Mind.....

Meditation Can Relax Your Mind and Spirit

"Meditation is becoming more obvious to people on a worldwide scale. The method of meditation can truly heal your inner mind and bring your entire body at peace. Its not longer ok to just go through your daily activities without meditation. Meditation can actually bring you peace and offer you hope for the future. Sometimes you may look at your life and wonder why you were called to a specific task. In meditation, you lean to channel your energies in such a way that will bring hope to you and to those that surround you on a daily basis. Meditation actually allows you to feel connected to those that are not around you right now and perhaps those that are in back of you. Open your heart to meditating today so that you can see how it will change your life.

The first step in learning how to meditate is to find a comfortable and quiet place that you can truly enjoy. Many people like places by the beach or bodies of water because it is extremely relaxing and enjoyable. If you are the shy type, then you may want to find a nice quiet place in your home. It must be away from children and from other distractions such as: pets, sirens, television, radios and anything else that may be a distraction.

When you first begin to meditate, you must first close your eyes and ask God to bless you. Ask God to bring anything to you that He would like for you to see. You must be open to whatever it is that God has for you so that you will not block God's true path for your life. The next step is to allow your mind to wonder with your eyes closed. Think about anything and everything that you want to think about. The secret here is to keep your eyes closed the entire time during your meditation session so that you will not be distracted by anything that may come near or around you.

Some people think that meditation is being able to levitate off of the ground or to do some other sort of magical thing. However, meditation is really a relaxation of the mind. It helps people to understand themselves better and to open their eyes to anything that may be coming there way that can help them later on in their life with life's accomplishments. You have to be open to meditation in order to understand it better.

The last step in meditation is to figure out how long you want to meditate. You may start out with just a 15 minutes session and then later on increase it. Many Buddhist monks have been known to meditate for hours on end. They train themselves daily to meditate and to find their inner peace. It's important for you to do this since you need to stay focused for a particular period of time. During your meditation, think about anything and pray to God. Ask Him to help you to find your way through life and be open to whatever his responses are to you.

After your meditation session is over with, read some spiritual material that you can learn from. Read something that will bring you to a higher point in your life. Allow your mind to connect with things that surround you daily. Remember that inside of yourself, you are truly all spirit and you have a soul. You must remember that your body is only temporary, but what live inside of you, will last forever..."
